Paper Lions are excited to release their sophomore album – “My Friends” – to their hometown fans at The PEI Brewing Company. Helping out will be local indie-faves Coyote and The Express – Liam Corcoran of Two Hours Traffic and Kinley Dowling from Hey Rosetta.
The show kicks-off November 30th at the Brewery event space. Doors open at 8pm and the show starting shortly after that.
My Friends, the new album from Charlottetown, PEI indie-rockers Paper Lions was released on August 20, 2013 via the band’s own label imprint, Fountain Pop Records. The 10-song collection captures a Polaroid of Prince Edward Island twenty-some years ago. Stories of love and pain, childish fights, best friends, beaches and forts; they evoke the melancholia of youth, remembered by someone not very far from it.
Paper Lions have traveled the world on the strength of their last EP At Long Creek (2012) and debut album, Trophies (2010). Having built their reputation on sunny pop gems, the band’s nuanced song writing also has its darker clouds. Their tightly crafted, high-energy live show is not to be missed. As outlined below, the band will play select Canadian and U.S. shows this summer including a stop at NXNE in Toronto and two shows in New York City this June.
My Friends, was recorded with acclaimed Canadian indie-rock producer Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, The New Pornographers, Mother Mother) in Vancouver. Equally influenced by the clear-voiced harmonies of the Beach Boys and the clanging guitars of modern rock, at the heart of the band are long standing friendships and vibrant pop songs based on the sandy shores of their remote island province.
